POPULAR TELEVISION JOURNALIST/NUTRITION AUTHORITY TO BREAKFAST WITH ATTENDEES AT THE CONFERENCE

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 18, 2009 — Joy Bauer, R.D., often starts her mornings holding court with Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira as a TODAY Show nutrition & health contributor.  On the morning of Saturday, October 24, however, she’ll begin her day with leaders in the dietary supplement industry, serving as the speaker during the popular “Breakfast with…” session at The Conference, CRN’s annual symposium for the dietary supplement industry.  Over a healthy breakfast, she’ll share with conference attendees insights gained about the supplement industry from her dual perspectives as a registered dietitian and a health and nutrition journalist.

In addition to her role on the TODAY Show, Ms. Bauer is a contributing editor and monthly columnist for Self magazine and has been featured in numerous publications including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Wall Street Journal, Prevention, Vogue, Town & Country, Allure, Self, Cosmopolitan, People, US Weekly and Family Circle.   She is also the nutritionist for the New York City Ballet and separately has a clientele that includes high-profile professionals, celebrity actors, fashion models, and Olympic athletes.  She is the author of several best-selling books, with her most recent, Joy’s Life Diet, released in January 2009, and her new cookbook, Slim and Scrumptious coming out in April 2010.

Past “Breakfast with…” speakers at The Conference include Brian Kilmeade, co-host of Fox News Channel’s Fox and Friends, and David Katz, M.D., medical educator and ABC medical contributor.

The Conference will be held October 21-24 at the brand new Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.  Open to bothCRN members and non-members, attendees can choose from four flexible registration options, including cost-savings for signing up for both The Conference and The Workshop: CRN’s Day of Science, which takes place directly prior to The Conference on October 21. Registration for both events is now open and available online. Visit http://www.crnusa.org/2009events/ for more information.
