Consider staying for the Balloon Fiesta—
starting October 4

For nine days every October, the crisp, clear desert skies are painted with a kaleidoscope of color as hundreds of balloons lift off from Albuquerque's Balloon Fiesta Park. This year, the Balloon Fiesta begins on October 4.   Consider staying an extra day—or an extra week—to be part of this breathtaking festival. If you just have one day, be sure to check out the events now known as "balloon glows." There is a balloon glow on Sunday night, followed (weather and field conditions permitting) by an "AfterGlow Fireworks Show."

Invented in Albuquerque in 1979, when local pilots inflated balloons on Christmas Eve night as a "thank you" to local residents, the sight of balloons lit from within at night like giant holiday ornaments is breathtaking, and "glow" events are now held all over the world. Balloon Fiesta launched its Balloon Glow—the world's biggest—in 1987. Fiesta Glow "all burns"— when all the balloons fire their burners and light up at the same time—are perhaps the most spectacular single moment in all of Balloon Fiesta. The Balloon Glows—followed by New Mexico's most spectacular fireworks displays—are now among Balloon Fiesta's most popular events.

For more information on admission price and activities, visit www.balloonfiesta.com or call 1-888-422-7277. Transportation can be arranged from the hotel by taking a shuttle to the Fiesta Express and the Fiesta Express to the parking lot of the Balloon Fiesta. The cost and time of the shuttle will be published later this summer.
