CRN-I Symposium Proceedings Now Available in Eight Languages—Updated, February 2015: Ten Languages—German and Portuguese added

MANNO, SWITZERLAND, 10 March 2014—The Council for Responsible Nutrition-International (CRN-I), the international arm of the dietary supplement industry’s leading trade association, the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), has made available, at no charge on its website, translations in eight languages of the abstracts from its four annual scientific symposium proceedings. CRN-I has held an annual scientific symposium every year since 2010, with the proceedings published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal shortly following the meeting. Abstracts of the published proceedings are now available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish.

“These translations are a valuable resource for the international nutrition science and regulatory community,” said James C. Griffiths, Ph.D., vice president, scientific and international affairs, CRN-I. “By providing these translations, more science and regulatory experts will have access to important science and policy discussions that affect our industry and ultimately our consumers worldwide.”

The following topics were covered at the annual symposiums: Bioactives—Qualitative Nutrient Reference Values for Life-stage Groups (2013); New Approaches to Nutrient Reference Values for Bioactives (2012); Nutrition Issues in Codex—Health Claims, Nutrient Reference Values and WTO Agreements (2011); and Scientific Issues Related to Codex Goals (2010).

“We are pleased to make these translations available in an effort to further discussion among international influencers about the need to ensure that nutrition policy is well-grounded in science,” said Dr. Griffiths.

The annual symposiums have been held in tandem with Codex Alimentarius meetings to make them more accessible to regulators attending those meetings. For more information about the next symposium, contact Dr. Griffiths (jgriffiths@crnusa.org or 202-204-7662).
