CRN Honors Three Members For Outstanding Service


MIAMI, September 19, 2000 —Three members of the Board Of Directors for The Council For Responsible Nutrition (CRN) were honored today at CRN’s Annual Conference. Evelyn Jarvis-Ferris of Atherton, California, Salvatore Palladino of Montvale, New Jersey, and Francis X. Quinn of Westfield, New Jersey were recognized for "continued and exemplary service" to the organization.

"These three individuals, who together represent over 30 years of service to CRN, have contributed immensely to the growth and guidance of this trade association" noted John Cordaro, President and CEO of CRN. "Their work has been instrumental in CRN’s successful representation of the dietary supplement industry."

Each of the three received the "Steuben Apple," CRN’s highest honor for individual service.

Ms. Ferris recently completed nineteen years of service with the Shaklee Corporation, as Vice President of Government Relations. During her association with CRN, she served on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Board. She also chaired the CRN Government Relations Committee and served on the Compensation Committee. Ms. Ferris was active in many CRN initiatives, including its efforts to pass the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA).

Mr. Palladino, Director Emeritus, of BASF Corporation, will soon complete a two-year term as Chairman of the CRN Board of Directors. A long-time member of the CRN Board, he has also served in other official positions, including Treasurer and Chairman-Elect. Mr. Palladino is recognized for his major role in the growth and development of the Council for Responsible Nutrition.

Mr. Quinn, Senior Vice President of Takeda Vitamin & Food, USA, has been a CRN Board member since 1988. He has been closely involved in CRN membership development activities, serving as Chairman of the Membership Development Committee. During Mr. Quinn’s association with CRN, the membership in the organization more than doubled.


The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) is a science-based, trade association founded in 1973 and represents more than 100 companies in the dietary supplement industry, including ingredient suppliers and manufacturers. CRN members adhere to a strong code of ethics, comply with dosage limits and manufacture dietary supplements to high quality standards under good manufacturing practices.
