DIETARY SUPPLEMENT INDUSTRY TRADE ASSOCIATION APPOINTS
VICE PRESIDENT, COMMUNICATIONS

WASHINGTON, D.C., December 13, 2001 – The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), one of the dietary supplement industry’s leading trade associations, announced the appointment of Judy Blatman as the vice president, communications.

Most recently, Ms. Blatman served as the vice president, public affairs & communications for the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States.

In her new position, Ms. Blatman will be responsible for overseeing development and execution of the association’s overall strategic communications efforts, including media relations, public relations, and collateral materials.

John Cordaro, president and chief executive officer, Council for Responsible Nutrition, stated, "We are delighted to have found someone with Judy’s background and experience to help the dietary supplement industry communicate its platform to a variety of interested audiences. Her expertise in both consumer marketing communications and issues management will be an asset to our association and our industry."

"I was extremely impressed with many aspects of this association, including their strong stand on responsible marketing of dietary supplement products," said Judy Blatman. "I am looking forward to working with our own team, as well as others inside and outside the industry,

to communicate not only what the science says about dietary supplement products, but as importantly, what it means for the industry’s consumers."

Prior to her work with the Distilled Spirits Council, Ms. Blatman spent more than a decade heading up public relations efforts for the international luxury resort chain, Princess Hotels International. She began her public relations career in the New York office of Manning, Selvage & Lee, an international public relations agency, where she spent three and a half years working on a variety of consumer and health accounts.

A cum laude graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, Ms. Blatman holds a bachelor’s degree in English/Rhetoric and Communications.

The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), founded in 1973, is a science-based trade association representing more than 100 companies in the dietary supplement industry, including ingredient suppliers and manufacturers. CRN members adhere to a strong code of ethics, comply with dosage limits and manufacture dietary supplements to high quality standards under good manufacturing practices.
