AUGUST 6, 2024 – In response to an “original investigation” that appeared in JAMA Open Network (“Estimated Exposure to 6 Potentially Hepatotoxic Botanicals in US Adults”), and subsequent news reporting, the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), the leading trade association for the dietary supplement and functional food industry, described the article as further confirmation of the wide range of safety of six herbal supplement ingredients

JULY 11, 2024 – CRN extends its gratitude to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and three other national associations for their strong support in CRN’s ongoing legal battle to protect First Amendment rights. The four organizations filed an amicus (“friend of the court”) brief today in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, supporting CRN's challenge against New York’s General Business Law § 391-oo, which restricts the sale of certain dietary supplements based on their labeling and marketing.

JULY 8, 2024 – CRN announced that it has filed its appellate brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit challenging a New York federal district court’s denial of CRN’s request for a preliminary injunction in its lawsuit against the recent New York State law that imposes age restrictions on the sale of certain dietary supplements. 

JUNE 26, 2024 – CRN today responded to a recent commentary in JAMA Network Open questioning the value of multivitamin supplements. CRN emphasized the critical role that multivitamins play in filling essential nutrient gaps, particularly among vulnerable populations, and highlighted research that underscores their benefits.

JUNE 17, 2024 – CRN announces the launch of its new podcast, "Supplement Source." Hosted by CRN's Vice President of Communications, Jeff (“J.D.”) Ventura, the podcast will provide a comprehensive look into the dietary supplement and functional food industry, featuring a wide range of topics and expert guests.

MAY 17, 2024 – CRN congratulates the Global Retailer and Manufacturer Alliance (GRMA) for having its dietary supplement good manufacturing practice (GMP) certification program recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) as meeting the latter’s benchmark requirements. 

MAY 14, 2024 – CRN today noted a significant legal milestone in its lawsuit challenging age restrictions on certain dietary supplements in New York.

MAY 13, 2024 – CRN is pleased to announce its participation at the upcoming American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) Annual Clinical and Scientific Meeting, scheduled for May 17-19, 2024, in San Francisco, CA.

APRIL 22, 2024 – CRN announced today that a federal judge in New York State's age restriction law case ruled that the association has standing to sue on behalf of its members, allowing the case to move forward. A motion for a preliminary injunction that would have delayed the law from going into effect was, however, denied late Friday.
