Council for Responsible Nutrition – Director, Communications 

The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) seeks a Director, Communications to serve as a strategic communications professional to the association. This position devises and executes CRN’s rapid response to consumer media and to member companies on scientific studies, regulatory and legislative developments, and industry activities; fields and responds to consumer, trade and policy media inquiries including writing and editing media materials and messaging documents; develops an array of consumer press contacts and cultivates and nurtures those relationships; identifies media opportunities to promote CRN’s work and proactively generates positive stories around new science related to the industry and its products. 

The position also collaborates with other staff to curate engaging content for multiple platforms including our daily member newsletter, CRN’s social media accounts and CRN’s monthly newsletters for specific audiences; develops and implements consumer education and advocacy campaigns; establishes metrics for the success of those programs; identifies, establishes and cultivate sponsorships and partnerships with third parties, coalitions and alliances.

Position requires a bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, marketing or related field and five or more years’ experience in communications/marketing/public relations. Public relations agency and/or association or corporate experience is highly valued.  Requisite skills and experience should include excellent written, oral and presentation capabilities; media relations expertise; interpersonal skills; professional demeanor; ability to work quickly; juggle projects and meet deadlines. Salary range is $75,000 to $90,000, depending on experience.
