Washington, D.C., September 15, 2014—The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), the dietary supplement and functional food industry’s leading trade association, today praised the U.S. House of Representatives for its passage of the Designer Anabolic Steroid Control Act (DASCA) of 2014 (H.R. 4771), introduced by Reps. Joe Pitts (R-PA) and Frank Pallone (D-NJ).
H.R. 4771, the companion bill to S. 2012 that was introduced in the Senate earlier this year, would give the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) additional authority to identify and quickly respond when new designer anabolic steroids are falsely marketed as dietary supplements. CRN has been highly engaged in bipartisan discussions with legislators in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, emphasizing the importance of DASCA to consumers and responsible industry alike.
